Market Buy/Sell
A market order describes an order in which you quickly buy or sell at the current best available price. IIt needs liquidity to be filled, meaning it is executed based on the limit orders previously placed on the order book. Unlike limit orders, where orders are placed on the order book, market orders are executed instantly at the current market price, meaning you pay the fees as a market taker.
Markets are made up of makers and takers. The makers create buying or selling orders that aren’t carried out immediately (e.g., “sell BTC when the price hits $15k”). This creates liquidity, meaning it’s easier for others to buy or sell BTC when the condition is met instantly. The people that buy or sell instantly are called takers. In other words, the takers fill the orders created by the makers.
How to make a Market order

When logged in on KuCoin, go to the trading section. Here, the red highlights mark the spot trading interface.
- You will want to be in the Market tab.
- You can type in an amount (in this case, USDT) to buy BTC for the current market price.
- The slider will let you select a percentage of your USDT portfolio to purchase BTC.
Then you have to click on buy or sell and your order will be triggered.
