Setup TradingView

Now it is time to setup our TradingView charts!

Note you can also watch a video version of the below information on the lesson titled ‘Setup TradingView Video‘!

We will give you our T4-Pulse-Indicator towards the end of the ‘Minute Trading’-Course, as the free version of TrandingView only supports 2 indicators, and switching between indicators gets tiresome and most importantly does not work long term.

That is also why we have developed the T4-Pulse-Indicator, to provide a one stop solution to our students and partners, and get them trading faster! It provides a great value and you can always add more indicators if you want to.

First, if you have not done so already, go to TrandingView and create your account. A free account is good enough for now. Just click on the previous link and then sign up.

After that you want to go to ‘Products’ in the top bar menu and click on ‘Supercharts’. Your screen will now look like this:

Note that this lesson is a bit long. Do not just read through it, actively follow along to see the changes and get used to adjusting your different indicators. You can come back here anytime to reference the different settings. Because of the 2 indicator limit of the free version, we will add and remove our indicators as needed. All indicators will need to be reconfigured every time they are removed and added back to the chart, unless their settings have been saved as default beforehand. (How to save the settings of an indicator will be explained later in this lesson.)

The first thing you want to do is change your candles to Heikin Ashi. To do so, click on the candle button on the top toolbar.

A menu will open and you want to click on Heikin Ashi.

Now you have setup your candles.

Next, we want to set up our indicators. Later in the course, we will provide you with our T4-Pulse Indicator, but it’s good practice to know how to set up your own indicators as well

Quick note: To remove an indicator move your mouse over the indicator on the top left on your chart, and click on the ‘X’ to remove it. Remove the Volume indicator for now.

Your TradingView screen should now look like this.

To add an indicator:

Click on ‘Indicators’ in the top toolbar.

For minute trading we use the EMA (Exponential Moving Average) 7, 21 and 55, as well as the MA (Moving Average) 200. The numbers are the time frames used in the calculation of said Average.

The free version of TradingView only lets you setup 3 Indicators, which is why we will provide you with our T4-Pulse-Indicator later in the course. Lets get into how to setup our indicators now:

In the popup window look for ‘Moving Average Exponential’ and hover on it with your mouse and click the star next to it to add it to your favorites. This will make it easier to switch between indicators. Now click on the indicator and close the popup.

On your chart you will now have added a Moving Average Exponential called EMA 9. Visually you should see a blue line following inside the candles.

As mentioned earlier, we want an EMA of 7, 21 and 55. We can change the properties of our indicator by clicking on the settings cob next to the indicator.

A popup will open.

Here you can change the ‘Length’ of the indicator, enter the values discussed above (7, 21, 55) and see how the line changes.

Leave it at 7.

Change the color and thickness as indicated in the screenshot.

Repeat this for your EMA 21 and 55 indicators. EMA 21 will be orange and EMA 55 green. Your chart will look like this now:

You cant add more then 3 indicators to Tradingview free. So to add other indicators you will have to remove one of the ones we have just setup.

To add the MA 200, remove one of the EMAs, and search for Moving Average in the indicator popup, add it to your favorites and click it. In the setup screen on ‘Inputs’ you want to change the ‘Length’ to 200, and in the style tab you want to choose a blue color and the thickest thickness you can choose.

Next we will add the MACD, STOCH RSI, Bollinger Bands and the Ichimoku Cloud to our favorites. Look for the following indicators on the indicator search popup and click on the star icon next to it.

“RSI / STOCH RSI OVERLAY” by “lethanhwww”

“CM MACD Custom Indicator” by “ChrisMoody”

Bollinger Bands

and Ichimoku Cloud.

Your favorites should now look like this.

Click on the MACD and Stoch RSI indicators to add them to the chart (remove your EMAs for now)

Your chart will look like this:

Now we need to adjust the settings for those 2 indicators. Lets start by moving the Stoch RSI to the top of the chart:

Click on the up arrow and the pane will move up to the top of the chart.

If you move your mouse between the panes you can resize the different panes to make the main chart bigger or smaller. Make the MACD and Stoch RSI a little thinner to make the main chart easier to read.

Now we need to adjust the settings and the colors of our indicators to make them easier to read. Like with the other indicators hover over the indicator name, and click the settings cob. Go to the Style tab.

To setup the Stoch RSI:

Change the Stoch RSI style to match the screenshots below and then click ‘OK’:

  1. You can switch off the first plot.
  2. Then increase the thickness of the 2nd plot by one.
  3. Then change the color of the 3rd plot to red and increase the thickness in the same way as for the previous plot.

We will leave the MACD as it is.

You can now add back the ‘Volume’ indicator. This indicator does not count against the 3 indicator limit on TradingView. To do so, open the ‘Indicators’ popup, and search for ‘Volume’.

First you add it to your favorites and then you can directly click on it to add it to the chart.

Lets add and configure our Bollinger Bands now. Open ‘Indicators’ and go to your ‘Favorites’ and click Bollinger Bands. Hover your mouse over the indicator name on the top left on your chart and click the settings cob. Go to the Style tab and setup the indicator as follows:

  1. You can switch off the Basis-Line.
  2. Then change the colors of the Upper and Lower Band to black and increase the thickness.
  3. You can also switch off the Background.

You can change the thickness of the Upper and Lower Bands for readability.

Now remove the Bollinger Bands from your chart, and add the Ichimoku Cloud indicator from your favorites, so that we can set this indicator up now.

Set it up according to the screenshots below:

Note, you can leave the opacity of the ‘Plots Background’ at the default of 10%, we only increased it a little (to 15%) to make it more visible.

That is it, these are the indicators we use for minute trading, and their settings. If you ever forget them, you can come back here to reference them!
